National Adoption Week in Wales takes place from 12th to 18th October 2020.
This year we’re having a good chat – with adopters, professionals and the public about their stories, experiences and adoption questions.
You can join the conversations by attending one of our free lunchtime webinar events and listening to Wales’ first adoption podcast – available in both English and Welsh.
One of the best ways to find out more about adoption is to hear from people who have been there and done it.
In the first series of our Truth be told: Adoption stories podcast, a group of adopters from across Wales share their experiences with each other - from the first steps to post-adoption support.
First of six episodes released on Wednesday 14th October
Available in Welsh and English
Meet some of the families from our Truth be told: Adoption stories podcast.
No one knew each other before the podcast recording but within moments it was like listening to old friends talk. They laughed together, they cried together.
Now you can get to know them, too.
Watch here.
In partnership with Pride Cymru, meet members of the LGBT+ community who have been successfully matched through the adoption process.
The session also includes advice from St David’s Children Society, whose adoption rate with LGBT+ adopters is higher than the UK average.
Hear their tips, honest stories, and answers to commonly asked questions.
We’re exploring the adoption process in Wales, the role language plays in families, and signposting adoption resources and support available in Welsh.
The panel will include a social worker and people who are first-language Welsh who have successfully been through the adoption process.
